GREEN Marin City!

April 28th, 2008

We are working with our friends and non-profit partners to GREEN Marin City, researching and engaging in carbon emission reduction programs to provide green jobs, and using our resources and working with the Marin County Supervisors to raise awareness about opportunities in the green collar sector. This is a very complex undertaking, and change is not going to happen overnight. But if we work together and support our neighbors in their efforts to preserve and improve their housing complex, our entire community will reap the benefits.
Help us harness the power of the arts to drive social and environmental change.

“This is fantastic!”
Paul Hawken
“This is very encouraging and we are excited about the prospects for this, and thank you so much for your continued efforts.”

Notes from the Navigator…

April 6th, 2008

Regarding Paul Liberatore’s Article in the Marin IJ on Saturday, April 5th.
|||…CLICK HERE TO READ THE ARTICLE…|||
First, please allow us the opportunity to correct some misinformation in the article - The Plant Studios has not “changed operators” - Arne Frager is the CEO/Owner of The Plant Studios - Therefore, a more accurate description of events would state: The Plant Studios has been forcibly evicted from the studio’s location. The headline should have read: “The Plant Studios Has Left the Building.”
Please read the article and scroll all the way down past the maps to post your comments, and thanks for your support!

VOLUNTEERS OPPORTUNITY :We are recruiting volunteers to help gather signatures of support for our plan to form a multi tenant non-profit arts and green business center in Sausalito! This MTNC, which we call the AV4C, (Audio/Visual, Collaborative Cultural Creative Center) will provide a nurturing creative space for non-profit arts and environmental organizations, where they can gather to share resources and collaborate on media projects. Join our mission to preserve Marin’s music legacy and help strengthen our arts and non-profit communities.

Kat Parra and Her Latin Jazz Dance Band
Friday April 4th
Stage Dor
10 Liberty Ship Way # 340, Sausalito, CA 94965

The Stage Dor opens to the public with another evening of live music and Dance. Kat Parra take the stage with her hot Latin band to get the salsa moving. Parra has leapt beyond the boundaries of the typical Latin jazz singer. With her thirst for the exploration of world rhythms and tonalities, she has developed a style of music that encompasses sounds that both transcend and bend the stereotypical definition of Latin jazz. She has incorporated not only Afro-Cuban music, but also added Afro-Peruvian, middle eastern, South American folklore as well as Nueva Trova. Most interestingly, she has also been developing, along with her musical director Murray Low, new arrangements of Sephardic music–the music of the Spanish Jews sung in the dying language of Ladino.

Kat sings fluently in English, Spanish and Portuguese as well. With this multi-lingual and multi-musical experience, Kat Parra is able to transport her audiences to an exciting and vibrant journey of world and Latin music. Join her and her band for an evening of lively dance tunes at the Stage Dor in Sausalito. Bring your dancing shoes!

Dream Reborn Conference!

March 20th, 2008

A Vehicle for Change is partnering with Marin City residents to GREEN Marin City! The goal is to lift people out of poverty through green collar jobs.
ALL online donations (which are tax deductible) to AV4C received between now and March 21st will go towards our goal of $2000 to send a Marin City resident to Green for All’s Dream :REBORN Conference in Memphis, which takes place April 4th - 6th, 2008.
That “delegate” will them come back to share information with their community on how to bring Green Jobs to Marin City.
If by chance we do not make our goal to send someone to the conference, we will use these funds to enable low-income members of the community to participate in solar job training in San Francisco and the East Bay through Grid Alternatives program. Either way, we pledge to use your “green” for “green.”
